    @al-b – You continuously appear to undermine all RSs that have not had their engine forged? The majority of RS owners on this forum have un-forged engines both standard and modified myself included with no issues whatsoever. One cap does not fit all and most club members support the brand not constantly kick it in the teeth so please try and join us.🤔

    @tonys just telling it how it is buddy, l put lots of different posts but I am guessing anything mentioning this sticks in your mind…  I’ve lost count of head gasket posts by others slagging Ford off.

    I genuinely hope one day you don’t have to pay what I and other people have had to do, all I am doing is explaining my situation and hoping that it prevents happening to someone else.  Performance Ford garages do talk about this a lot whereas when I went to Ford they didn’t say anything on the subject… I also mention a lot of other things in my posts (like not selling the RS as I love it so much) but when someone is talking about future resale values and the amount of engines going pop it is relevant.

    Just a year ago on here most people said if it wasn’t remapped your engine was fine, this has turned out to be not the case and as cars reach higher mileage the engines are going. Am I bitter? Damn right having to pay £5.5k so I am actually championing the works done. If I didn’t like the RS I would have sold it, the car was bought at a very difficult time in my life and means a lot to me but it doesn’t cloud my judgement.

    Many people have commented on here complaining about the engine and have slagged Ford off much more than me, especially dealerships which I could do but haven’t. Not talking about it doesn’t make it go away although Ford would love that, a Google search of the mk3 now will bring up the issue so of course it’s relevant.

    Facing facts and reality is not a bad thing and just pointing out you might have a very different view if you have had to spend in some cases over £10k.

    If I have future engine issues then I will be straight on here (after going back to FJRS first) telling people my story.

    Have great day, I’m off to get my Ford tattoo and remember it’s always grim up north… 😉

    Sorry to fill up your thread with other posts.

    @al-b

    My car choice was to be manual and at least AWD.  I was hunting for an evo 9 for 6 years and gave up and got the RS.

    Mine was forged by mountune by the first owner. The mahle piston cracked about just under 30k miles.  Can’t remember exact miles without checking back posts. Someone in America has a similar issue and we both needed new oil jets so could have been the issue where it wasn’t getting enough oil.. Some believe it’s the m400x map.. Who knows..  I could have easily stuck a standard engine but instead got it rebuilt with forged parts again. Clutch and timing chain as well even though it didn’t need them. Spent just over 7k.

    Before I’d consider selling it next year I will replace all brakes due to slightly rust and maybe the mountune springs because they are rusty af too.

    Also there’s not really any big names that specialises in the mk3 RS here. So taking it down England is a pain. Luckily I’m close to AG Motorsport who might not specialise specifically in the mk3 but do tones of work on fords in genral so that was good enough for me.

    Car attracts the wrong attention too at times which will be because of the colour or the pops and bangs 😂

    Cheers @lucky for all info…interesting and I also understand I could have issues still, nothing is guaranteed.

    If you and @turbo-tone do sell I’m sure the owner will be very happy as both sound like cracking cars!

    Yeah gotta love the pops and bangs, so childish and so great 🤣👌🏻

    Hijacked post over!

    @turbo, well 🤔 you have created an interesting thread, each to their own as  no one’s circumstances are the same. Personally I would still have mind if it was possible. I’m sure your decision will not be easy, given that there’ll not be another RS in this form ever again. Good luck with your decision please keep us posted.

    TBH Bobact I was dead set at the weekend to get rid. Now not so much.

    Now debating if I can squeeze it in the garage for winter….

    And I have also discovered that my new work has electric charging points so fuel would be free so that would save 200£ a month in fuel if I went for something thatss powered by the same stuff as my fridge.

    @lucky
    . Dont mind going slightly off track, it’s the whole point of a forum to discuss issues👍

    @turbo, I usually avoid giving advice BUT could you not see out the winter with the RS albeit (sorn) polished and kept in the garage on charge and see how the future might look. Just saying 😆 Take no notice of me 🙂 I do miss mine ….. a lot.

    My son’s just bought a 1.0l Mk 7 fiesta with 9k and FFSH. It reminded me of my old Mk7 fiesta ST. A buddy of mine just got the Mk8 fiesta ST.

    Got me to thinking about keeping the RS for weekend fun and getting either Mk7 or 8 fiesta ST for commuting. They are both excellent fun for not much money (Mk7 at least). Plus 30mpg+ rather than low 20’s. Mk 7 doesn’t require you to have spinal surgery after 10k miles though – it’s a hard setup!

    Hi, I would say keep the RS if you can, won’t be another like it!!! I have had many motors over many years, including 2 previous MK3 RS’s, my current one wont be going anywhere and I can’t ever remember saying that about a car, so kinda sums up how good this car is, especially with nothing else quite like it on the market.
