    Simple answer don’t bother.

you get no power increase just noise. If you want noise just buy the exhaust flap terminator for about £18

    🙂

    RS Edition.

    FPM375 Rocks

The rest of the “M” maps suck

Hi I want to put a stainless  exhaust  on my mk3 RS, Ford’s where I bought it are telling  me if I don’t  want to void my warranty  only Mountune can be fitted which is over a grand just for the back box section which is a ripoff.but another person at ford said it was discretionary depending on the dealer if I change the exhaust to another make, any similar issues ??

Yes alot of ‘friendly’ dealers will allow an aftermarket cat back exhaust as its not affecting any performance. Best to check with your local dealer.

Had a conversation with my dealer on Friday whilst having my FPM375 fitted about the whole warranty thing

they had a FRS in with coolant literally passing straight out the exhaust,  when they approached ford to replace the engine they requested numerous photos he said 100 but that seems excessive however he did say that ultimately the decision is with ford and never the dealer and anything that has a whiff of after market will be knocked back and when a dealer says they can cover up after market add ons they cant as the dealership franchise will always come first which i get

he also said that ford only send a new block for engine failure  all other existing parts are bolted back on, however and again I don’t know how true this is but ford will/would honor an engine/block replacement even if the car was out of warranty as its a known fault

Naturally the above is a chat with a ford mechanic and not in black and white from Ford themselves lol ?

Strange as I have heard some dealerships getting cars with aftermarket parts and maps getting new engines no issue.

Thanks for replays so I am now the wiser looks like I will leave it  standard for the Mo just in case, what is the sort of mileage done when these engine issues happen I read is around five thousand any thoughts on that. My RS in 2017 model  and a second generation a and not likely to have this issue how true is this ,that’s what Trustford told me when I expressed my concerns???

@rob s seems as though they are isolated incidents and the early cars as you say

each to there own i think, the car I mentioned was one of the first mk3 RS’s and completely standard but ford still put him through the ringer

only reason i went for mountune is piece of mind with the warrany if not I’m pretty sure i’d of gone done the revo route

enjoy the car whatever you do with it buddy, after all we spend far too much time worrying about things that never happen

When I ordered my Focus RS at Ford dealer I asked them if they can send to my friends workshop.

So they agreed and finished the car, delivery to my friends workshop for Milltek exhaust and then I was able to pick it up.

Then the Dealer called me again if I can make a visit at his store on a day he had customers there. So I drive in and he asked me to rev the car to show what difference the sound / noise is. Customer there was very happy and I think that I am in good hands with my Ford dealer. And I love my Milltek exhaust and the flap delete mod. bang bang baby!

That’s great but doesn’t  answer the question  what if there’s  a problem later as regards the warranty with your ford dealer?
