Hearing rumors that Ford will announce a Field Service Action (FSA) at the end of this coming week.

The FSA is to check and replace the Cylinder Head gasket on all Focus RS cars produced between August 3, 2015 and July 6, 2017.

Dealers are to pressure test the cooling system and replace the cylinder head gasket.

Based on test results, some vehicles may require a new cylinder head assembly.

This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner.

Thanks to Dan D. Lyon for sharing the Facebook group so thought I woudl share it here.

Of course any rumor should be taken with a pinch of salt and is not guaranteed to happen.

If that turns out to be true, I wonder what changed from July 7th, 2017? If the problem is that the wrong head gaskets been fitted, the implication is that it was happening for twenty three months. Really!

Let’s all hope it’s true. Bring back some good stories in the media about the RS again.

It would be amazing if it was the wrong head gasket. Modern factories use quality gates and bar code scanning to prevent issues like this. Unless of course it was the supplier who %#@% up….

A relief if it’s definitely a wrong gasket – much better that than an oops in the engine design. And surely they can identify the affected cars – why FSA all of them, just easier I guess to be sure no one gets missed?

cannot see ford admitting to anything as they would be liable for more than just replacing it.

compensation is just the start of it i.e it has defiantly had a knock on the on price of the car and pretty much anybody that knows anything about cars knows about it.

and also the wording of it as well field service action maybe me but its a recall in my eyes and that opens a whole lot of flood gates if that word is used in manufacture industry especial at the start.

I personally feel its a lot more than the head gasket. a combination of that and piston liner play is my guess proof will be in time as they say.

A good old fashioned cock up probably best describes it. Looking forward to a positive outcome where all Mk3 RS owners are happy, and content in the knowledge that the 2.3 Ecoboost does not have a design fault.

Anyone know the part number for the new head gasket?

Mine’s just been changed and it’s been replaced with this part number – F1944011.

    Many thanks
