Has anyone done anything to strengthen their gearbox?
I was racing an Audi TT and left him for dead then slowed down to piss him again.
came off a roundabout put the foot down up through the gears and 4th gear gave up.
I believe 4th gear synchro will be the problem but won’t know until it’s stripped.
I’ve seen carbon synchros, has anyone used these?

Be honest, how naughty were you with that gearbox to show the TT that you are his daddy?

Previous owner got the stage 1 gearbox fitted at mountune.  Couldn’t tell you how different it feels to standard though since I’ve never driven another RS.

Seven quite a few on here go for the carbon synchros so might be a good first step. Probably considerably cheaper than the stage 1 gearbox as well.

    Good luck sorting it

    What’s a ‘stage 1’ gearbox?

All this talk of “Stage 1” needs to stay with the Golf R / VAG owners club!

To be honest I’m surprised that you’ve lost fourth gear as 2 / 3 should see the most wear. But if you’ve lost it, it should be pretty obvious. Sounds like it needs inspecting anyway.

4th gear doesn’t select at all.
When sitting stationary trying to select, it crunches and bounces out.

Yeah, it definitely needs inspected to see what damage has been done.

What else do you call it when they named it stage 1 gearbox. Not on mountune website anymore.

@robroy Not sure what that will be at the engine, but it shifts.

I’ve spoke to devils and I’ve to phone back tomorrow. Think the only thing that could be done is uprated bearings, shot pinning the gears and change too carbon synchros.

    How’s your car running?
