blue 72.. Welcome, and feel free to leave ! We arnt here to be strictly ” on subject” and be all conforming, we like a bit of variety and banter. Maybe go and watch the snow, that’s pretty predictable and stays on subject.

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

Once “adults” get behind a keyboard they are no longer adults in the main, some even turn into “warriors of the keyboard”, but most of the shit is to be taken for exactly what it is, you just need a sieve.

He does have a point Hammy, about over-stressing the engine , I used to own a j-reg escort van with the 1.8 naturally aspirated diesel lump fitted . In search of extra power I fitted a k&n panel filter, but the fear of grenading the engine got the better of me and I popped a standard motor craft paper air filter back in.

Guys, here in the US, the standard 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang engine that has thinner cylinder liners, a 2.0 head, smaller turbo, and a sh*t intercooler is good for a reliable 400 Wheel TQ all day long, the RS isnt over stressed, at all.

Having been a mechanic for the last 36 years ,The thought of holding the revs of my own car i,m paying 36K for at 5200rpm and then removing my foot from the clutch worries the hell out of me,Ive fished many clutches out the bottom of bellhousings-thinking how the f**k did they do this.

Far too many moving parts to go horribly wrong-even if covered by warranty,Dont fancy carrying a dustpan and brush when i go out for a drive.

I am with you Andy, if you have any engineering background at all, you know it’s going to stress everything to the max. Not sure a dustpan and brush would be enough, you might need a broom as well! ?

Valid points HammyI would like to think any of the features on the RS would be ok to use regularly, maybe I,ll try the drift mode.jumbo jets are fitted with escape slides as standard but I prefer to use the steps lol

Those escape slides are an adrenaline rush but you can only have one go per plane and then sometimes you can’t have ago even then.

They even dim the lights and put flashing LEDs in the floor to get you in the mood oh and the smoke machine to give that fun atmosphere.

Oh the joy of the plane slide, so much more than the steps 🙂

All the features on the car would of been (I’m guessing here head gasket) all stress tested and all the calculations for strength of the parts under full load would of been worked out by a proper engineer.

Each item “if” required would of been upgraded it may not be visible but their could be changes in the materials used.

So yes the engine suddenly having the clutch dumped would be stressed along with all the moving attached parts but it would be under the max the engine etc are calculated to cope with.

Interesting debate, for a change puts me on the fence, LOL. As others being a mechanical engineer and son of motor mechanic, sympathy has been bread into me since holding a spanner from the age of 3 or 4…. BUT, Ford would have design the car to take the punishment, they have promoted these features heavily and did you see the launch videos with journo after journo hammering them around a drift track and being taught launch starts. Ford must be confident that it will hold up ( ignoring HG obviously? ). So it does seem brutal, not tried it myself, to be honest can’t see how you could on a public highway, but that’s me being to sensible again ?. A few uses of the features perhaps isn’t going to be an issue, if you can afford to fix it, fill ya boots LOL .

Ford Oz have to extend the warranty to 5 years free of charge….

That’s shameful having us pay and it would go a long way to reassuring the anxiety RS owners have with their engines.

Coming up with a proper bonafide fix would be better than extending the warranty to five years.

What I don’t understand is why it’s taking so long for them to work out how to resolve it. 18 months should have been sufficient to work it out you’d think for a company this size with the resources they have available.

I see a few of the previous doubters are now believers on the HG front now that Ford have finally come clean; it’s sad that this car, which could really have put Ford back on the map around the top of performance motoring seems to have bitten them in the ass, and I continue to believe that they could have made this less painful if they’d admitted earlier publicly there was an issue and got straight on it instead of putting so much work into denying it and blowing smoke up everyone’s arse :(.

Hope you all get a fix that will be a long term rather than short term resolution for your cars, really isn’t on the way they’re treating the buyers.
