I’ve just had mine turned off at Stoneacre, York. They charged me £89 to have this done. I noticed a big difference on the 16 mile drive home, the car is less twitchy on poor road surfaces and gives you more confidence. I’ll need to drive more miles to really confirm the benefit.

@willshot and @crocket81 – Thanks for feedback. Mine is still on and I’m obviously still alive to tell the story! lol. Haynes Maidstone have said they will switch it off no questions asked.

£89, jeez. They did mine for nowt. Was in for service at the time though. Does make a difference but not a total resolution to the issue, on my car anyway.

Mine was in for it’s 4th service and MOT but they still charged me for the PDC disable. Total bill, £369.

There’s just no consistency between Ford garages. Differing service costs some charge for stuff that should be done as part of customer service. How hard can it be to have a pricing structure that’s the same North to South.

Its nice to have that guide.

Now the only thing missing is the guide to Fords own software.

I am going for 3 year service in 2 weeks, asked if they could turn off PDC, and they told me: “Yes, if i can tell how to do it”…

How am i supposed to know how their software works…

I recently got myself a Mk3 RS and it has an absolutely horrendous case of the veering steering. I’m almost certain that this is the reason the previous owner sold it with such low milage. I live in Halifax and have been hoping to find a place to get it serviced and have the PDC turned off.

Would you recommend Stoneacre York as a good place to get services and other work done to the RS as well as getting PDC disabled? Are they an RS specialist?

You will likely also want to change your tyres to another brand/compound as well. Continentals or Goodyear Eagle F1s will hopefully cure your car.

Stoneacre York are great, try this combination to cure the veering steering

    1. PDC off (dealer done only)

    2. ESC fully off (hold down the ESC button for 5 seconds)

    3. Put into Track mode with soft suspension setting (press button on the left hand stalk)

I promise you will have a car that’s predictable and still totally safe, I drive mine in this mode every time I drive, and I only drive it hard, it’s my Sunday blast car, mine veered terribly, not now, same tyres, same pressures, standard suspension, I’m using a DSC module but that hadn’t changed the steering, it’s just given the RS a better ride, Mark my words, you can cure the issue for little or no outlay.

Phoned Sandicliff Leicester Super store were I bought my RS from ..they say Ford can not switch off the pdc

IF you do ..which they say you can’t  .if you have an accident may effect your insurance .as it is a safety feature

I said so why do other Ford garages around the UK say you can  turn it off ….no comment

Other note they wanted £75 to check my battery , some Times It struggle to start..

Allan Ford want £48 .”…..”….. we all no big car dealers as a rip off

@stteb take your car to a battery supplier like Supac or something, they will check for free… or for a better check take it off and they will drop test it. Also will supply you a new if needed cheaper.. and they sell trickle chargers ?
