1976 in a MK1 Escort 1300 with BSM in Gloucester. My instructor was nuts and even told me to turn into a side road without slowing down, to demonstrate the cars excellent handling. Passed first time as well.

Had to buy Escorts as soon as I could afford them after that.

aged 16 and 3/4 I bought mums 1969 Escort 1100 deluxe 2 door for £250 ( it was 10 years old and had 56000 miles) as she had just bought a 1600GT Facelift Capri in Sebring Red GPK9K . Failed my first test in the escort because after the emergency stop the rear brake on one side locked on and the car hardly moved so the test was aborted! Dad turned up afterwards and with a nifty bit of spannering on the brake adjuster ( winding it right in ) it forced the piston in the wheel cylinder back in and it freed straight off! Heres the only pic I have of it !

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    1964

    three speed Anglia.

Passed First time and no paid for lessons. A few days after I was 17

My Father was more interested in teaching me double de clutch and my mechanical sympathy than whether I passed

He also taught me how to dive out of the passenger door while he swopped seats and got out of the driver’s door.

    I guess I wasn’t insured?

    Some good cars here

my 2000 MK7 civic 1.4 with the gearstick sticking out of the dash sounds lame!

could have been the reason I went for a MK8 Type R before the RS!

1979 in a Vauxhall viva after getting taught to drive by my dad. He was very patient as he taught mum and my brother as well. 100all passed first time. Well done Dad, rest in peace.

The viva was so heavy, and only 58 bhp so struggled to go up hill with 4 people in it with luggage.

May the Ford be with you
