It won’t throw up the “no drive modes available” message unless the car is started with the motor unplugged, but if it did as soon as you plug the module in and start the car the message will disappear. It’s also worth noting the ECU does not log that message as a fault.

sorry to jump in on this but have been reading a technical book on new age ecu basically anything newer than 2015. not finished yet and not going to boar you guys with all the stuff.

to cut a long story short and just because benkhana mentioned it.

what does the focus rs ecu actually record?

pretty sure I read our seen something somewhere that It pretty much records everything how true is that.

I only mention it because some of the members of another club have taken their car in with the “no drive modes available” message coming up intermittently, only to be told by the dealer that it doesn’t store a fault.

    to quote.

“Well another pointless visit to the dealership today. The car went in to check out the lumpy cold start and sticking exhaust valve only for me to be told there is no issues.

The car literally goes into “drive modes unavailable” mode every time it heats up now but the Ford tech’s say there is no problem. I’ve been told as the car doesn’t store a fault when this happens there is nothing they can do. They said the best they can do is to advise me to drop it in next time it happens so they can check it. I think it might be time to travel further afield to find a garage that knows what they are doing. They didn’t even know it had an exhaust valve when they phoned to tell me there is no issue!

Frustrated is an understatement!! Has anyone had this issue sorted through warranty that may be able to give me some advice?”

I should point out my point above about it not storing the fault is based on reading this and other reports from owners, I don’t have actual technical knowledge of the Ford ECU.

    HI,

The part is fromVW Parts International, based in Lincolnshire. It is listed for the Audi S3 8V Exhaust valve terminator.

you get 2 in the pack for £24.99.

So far its been good, with no fault codes and plenty of Exhaust noise.   As you can see from my Vid it is an easy install………

Sod it, what’s £15 to have more noise in default ‘Normal’. I even asked a Ford technician when it was in for the Mountune 375 to see if he could change the default Start mode on his laptop, he said this wasn’t possible………now it is! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks
