Its retty quick now, but I feel a little underwhelmed in the power as it’s so easy to drive just like a daily driver and the surge of power is so smooth it’s incredible with a small amount of controllable torque steer which is only to be expected at these figures.

Tops out at over what the speedo says it does 180  (private road lol) and still has plenty left.

So no future plans for anything else power wise my goal was always 501+

    Job done

It’ll just be 4 bits of rip off carbon – Front Wings, Front Bib, Rear Diffuser and Top Wing of the Rear Spoiler.

I think the RS will always feel a bit underwhelming due to shape of the torque curve. It has quite a steady slope, what about 45 degrees? with a high RPM for max torque.  Compare say a BMW straight 6 twin turbo  it hit’s max torque around 1800 rpm and stay flat right through. That makes if feel much more urgent and responsive even it the max is lower.   As the statement goes it’s the area under the curve that counts.  In reality on the RS that with that much power and torque it could be what’s keeping it driveable being primarily a FWD car.

    Evening mate!!

Loving the progress of this RS!! ??.

You’ve got exactly the power that I want mate….. 500+ at the Wheels… and you went to Devil Developments too!! NICE!!

I’m liking the additional Fuel Rail set-up, very nice mate!! Looks almost OEM!! ?.

    Got a few questions…..

How is it to drive?? As in……. how are the variable Maps?? How easy is it to change Map?? ie….. is it the press of a button… or do you have to stop in a lay-by…… or do you have to do something else??????

I would presume it can still be used as a daily driver?? Although I’m guessing you have other ideas?? Lol,??.  Can it still be used as a Daily?? When I say daily…. for me a daily is a car I go out in almost daily, during my 6 months a year at home, but only for pure pleasure mate!!!!! ??. Not back and fore to work everyday!!

Drive-Shafts…… are you still running the OEM Drive-Shafts at the front??

How long will you stick with the Mountune Cast Inlet Manifold?? It’s great for housing the extra Injectors but how much can it handle?? I think it’ll do a good bit yet, but who knows!!

Have you seen the Fuel Filter set-up for sale from SCC PERFORMANCE?? It reduces the restrictions in flow but still filters the fuel… so makes life easier for the HP FUEL PUMP!! Sounds all good to me mate!! ??.

    Cheers, Marc.

    Hello Marc

    Got a few questions…..

How is it to drive?? “Dead easy just as before. The only difference is a slightly higher tickover at 1k now”

As in……. how are the variable Maps?? “Awesome”

How easy is it to change Map?? ie….. is it the press of a button… “Yes just a tab open and press required map slot 1-12 very easy on the fly whilst driving. I bought a Toucan touch screen and Bluetooth device both for Syvecs decided to shelve the Toucan and use the Bluetooth via an iPad”

or do you have to stop in a lay-by…… “No”

or do you have to do something else?????? “Nothing else”

I would presume it can still be used as a daily driver?? “Oh yes no different in day to day driving”

Although I’m guessing you have other ideas?? Lol,??.

Can it still be used as a Daily?? “Yes“

When I say daily…. for me a daily is a car I go out in almost daily, “Shouldn’t be any issue” during my 6 months a year at home,

but only for pure pleasure mate!!!!! ??. Not back and fore to work everyday!! “ Should handle it all fine”

Drive-Shafts…… are you still running the OEM Drive-Shafts at the front?? “still factory Driveshafts and clutch, they seem to be holding up just fine”

How long will you stick with the Mountune Cast Inlet Manifold?? “I can’t see a reason to change to a Swedish style inlet” It’s great for housing the extra Injectors but how much can it handle?? “ The plastic was supposed to be good for only 400 but their are quite a few cars running OEM inlets on 600bhp” I think it’ll do a good bit yet, but who knows!! “I have no plans for anymore power so the Mountune item should hold fine my aim was always 501hp or more mission accomplished”

“Biggest failure was the Mountune Recirc valve fluttered and farted away boost. NOT much of an improvement over the plastic factory item and I’m only at 27psi had to bin it off and replaced it with a Turbosmart 50/50 item. Expensive failure as it cost a days mapping”

its awesome going to the shops to pick up a loaf or stuck in traffic.

But once you Floor your foot your passed 60 in a 3+ seconds onto 120mph without a hiccup and the Speedo needle races the rev counter and then passes the 180mph marker and would carry on but it hits a stop

    Evening mate!!

Thanks for answering the questions I asked!! ??.

    It sounds like a cracking set-up!! ?.
That’s some serious figures with only 27 psi of Boost!! I’ve seen some RS’s in the States running between 30-38 psi of boost and not seeing that kinda power!! ??. I get the impression they just bang big Turbos on and forget about the Cyl Head work and Cams etc…!!!

So you said you pick a map between 1 to 12?? Is that right correct?? If so I’m guessing 1 is standard, and 12 being FULL BEANS??!! And it’s easily changeable??

With all that power, how comfortable are you with your Brakes?? Serious question mate!! I was out in the RS yesterday getting some “essentials” and was giving her a right F**KEN HIDING!! By the time I got back to the village there was plumes of smoke coming up both sides of the car!! Now I’ve got EBC Turbo Discs and Yellowstuff Pads, front and rear, but those babies were on FIRE pal!!

I know you have upgraded the fronts to the 6 Pots, are they going to suffice??

Did you have a look at that Fuel Filter set-up from SCC Performance?? What do you make of that mate??

    Cheers, Marc.

    Hello Marc

    They produced 12 maps

Standard is now 22psi in normal

1-7 maps some have normal set to 22psi and all sport / track set to 27psi

8-12 are all the same power wise just different levels of traction control from mild to aggressive.

The maps are fully customisable if you know what you are doing. Norris Motorsport in Derbyshire map Syvecs and have an awesome reputation in the Ford arena; but they don’t fit Syvecs. They are also 200 miles each way closer I think I’ll get them to do 3 maps and see how it goes.

Had auto blip on down shifting taken off as I’m used to doing it myself and It confused the fook out of me lol.

Also I’ve had both versions of anti lag switched off as to aggressive on OEM clutch and would destroy it.

Your brake scenario was exactly what happened to me on the original Brembos and OEM pads which prompted me to go the AP route fronts and Tarox rear all on DS2500 pads. This brake set up on Litchfield 423hp was awesome on track and road.

Not done a track day at the newer power levels so don’t know but as for fast road use they are currently more than up-to the job they just produce lots more dust as you have to press harder more often as yours entry speed has increased substantially.

Tried to find the SCC inline filter but gave up after 30 minutes have you a link ?

Thanks for that, I have just started to shop for bits, Devil have told me they use Wossner rods and pistons with standard head gasket and recommend the deck brace.

Hopefully after this Corona virus thing is over i will have a boot load of bits for Devil to install.

I am thinking of doing this in stages.

Did you need to use the cams with the nx2 turbo ?

What are standard cams good for?

    Its back !

I have an Edition with the complimentary seat drop of 15mm (I’m 6ft).

Both the original RS 17 plate I had and the Edition 18 plate I now own both felt like I was sat on the car rather than sat in the car.

I took the plunge a few months back well pre-crimbo to be honest to purchase a Drivers JCR Super Low Seat Frame. Well it’s a bit like going from standard to M400 but in the seating world the difference is that improved you now feel part of the car rather than perched in the car.

First drive felt odd, just because of the seating position and outlook, but no different than the day of collection going from the A5 S-Line to the new RS. Next drive out it felt natural and in the car connected and is such a better seating position than either the standard or edition seat frame.

Yes your view changes from the seat out, but I guess it changed also from what you drove prior the Mk3 RS, it only takes an hour or so to visually acclimatise to the change after that it’s solely second nature.

So yes the JCR seat base  is a worthwhile while modification.

Does anyone on here have a JCR passenger side lower seat frame for sale for the Mk3 Focus RS.

I’d be interested if you have.
