Sabre has the 550 as their standard package but you can opt for the bigger units as thier system is completely modular so only need to swap out the turbo and it will fit as a direct bolt on if you ever decide you want to go bigger

Thier set up spools faster than the nx2 and has more mid range power, the nx2 being a way bigger turbo will obviously out flow the smaller units

nx2 on a standard head is a waste of time tbh

    change the recirc valve

change the actuator to dual port

    fit 285 cams

    fit meth

ported head and you will be knocking on the door of 620 bhp add race fuel you’ll see almost 700

stock head stock cams wmi you’ll see 520-530

270’s with no meth then probably the same ball park

nx2 is a big turbo and to make advantage of it you need headwork  being twin scroll it is responsive once it’s going and really rips when has all the supporting hardware there are better options out there 100% but I get why they go for it being so cheap

NX2 is a bargain priced turbo in the same why the Focus RS was a bargain priced hot hatch for what you actually bought 🙂

Nice to see a graph of the Sabre 550

NX2 on a standard head is a waste of time tbh:

You get the best from any turbo by porting the head some “cheat” this stage by fitting a bigger turbo and saying look it works its just a “cheat” by pushing more air via a bigger turbo.

    Change the recirc valve:

You have to do this from the FPM375 upwards so not really an issue. Don’t use the Mountune Recirc version as it pisses boost away if you intend to run more than M400X (about 390 ish)

Change the actuator to dual port

You must change the actuator to either an up-rated single or dual on most / all so called big turbo upgrades. A dual port is a must for the NX2

    Fit 285 cams

These aren’t a must but are the best for fast road / track; they produce power from early to mid-2000 rpm to 7500. The 270 2k-7k. People exceed these rpm’s but then it’s all turbo doing the work from the max rpm onwards and this is where a bigger turbo will shine over the NX2

    Fit meth:

Once you pay for the set-up, it’s a worthwhile and cheap to run (£155 for 205ltrs of 99.9999 if you collect) option with good results

Ported head and you will be knocking on the door of 620 bhp.

Personally, I don’t put the NX2 turbo or the m520 turbo into the big turbo range there more like a steppingstone before a big turbo

Great insight from some of the guys on here. Lots to ponder if you want to take it that high. Are these reliable with meth and all the extra work if you plan on using the car as a daily?

The nx2 is massive in comparison to the borg 7163

the Garret g25 660 is smaller than the borg but it’s efficient and gets great results

tiu do not need to put any aftermarket actuator on any Garret or Borg turbo don’t need it stock is fine as is the recirc valve

the nx2 on a turbosmart actuator is shit has to crack at 28psi waste of time

hence why dual port is the only one that works to help get the power

The garrett g25 660 is that what sabre are using ?

    This one ….

The most powerful small frame turbocharger on the market
Introducing performance out of a package you never thought possible. This clean sheet product is tailored to meet the demands of hard core racing enthusiasts while providing industry leading power capability in a small package.

The G-Series G25-550 and the G25-660 turbochargers are compatible with 1.4L – 3.0L engine displacements and capable of producing up to 550 and 660 horsepower. G Series 25 turbochargers are smaller and outflow all comparable products on the market.

New compressor and turbine aero combined with high temperature resistant materials allowed engineers to push the limits of performance.

A new name designates a new generation of industry leading technology and innovation.

    Understanding the Name:
    G25-550 || G25-660

    G designates 81 years of Garrett® heritage.

25 classifies the size of the frame. The remaining 3 digits identify the max horsepower rating of the turbocharger. (ie 550)

Its like you say all these kits are modular and every part can be changed or not.

Im a big fan of “NOT” running things at their max from injectors over maxed, such as the Mountune 520 to turbos it leaves nothing in reserve.

I personally build stuff with a little left in the specs but each to their own.

Barneys is the highest powers Nx2 we have seen to date at 684 we think there’s 700 in it but won’t know until it’s tested

the Garret g25  has seen 574 but none of them have had multi port meth or 285 cams yet, so still impressive

the 770 is out this week so again itl be interesting because the spec is not what you’d expect but the guy wants to do this in stages so itl be a while until we see the full potential of that turbo set up

the G30 660 is what I have my eye on and that is a really capable turbo
